Québec City's German Christmas Market returns November 19–December 23, 2026, across sites in Old Québec. For a December visit, choose a specific opening day and identify the location of the seller you want. An arrangement to meet simply “at the Christmas market” may not be precise enough for an event spread around the neighbourhood.
This guide was checked on November 3, 2026. It is written for visitors and makers, including people travelling from other Canadian regions. The organiser confirms the season dates, but accepting an application does not establish that a vendor space is still available for this year.
Check the day and the market site
The official MNAQ website announces the current period. Its general Thursday–Sunday opening message should be read alongside the practical information and detailed timetable, especially for the final days before Christmas. Do not assume continuous daily opening across the entire season range.
Before booking travel, check your intended day, hours and the current map. If you are collecting a purchase, agree the seller's name and exact site. Accommodation nearby does not guarantee a route that suits your mobility needs; consult accessibility information and ask about the arrangements that matter to your visit.
The previous edition provides historical evidence
The organiser's November 20, 2025 press release announced opening that day and a finish on December 23, 2025. It also described activities distributed through Old Québec. That is the historical reference for this guide, separate from the November 19 opening announced for 2026.
Performances and locations in the old release are not automatically this year's programme. Finding a maker in an archived article does not prove they are participating again or occupying the same hut. Check current information before travelling specifically to see one business or a particular type of handmade work.
Vendor selection is not a pitch reservation
The exhibitor FAQ explains that returning participants have renewal priority. New applications are evaluated and may enter a waiting list. Selection depends on spaces becoming available and the suitability of the product range, rather than simply the order in which forms arrive.
The form can be submitted year-round, but this does not guarantee a place for December 2026. Ask which participation format fits your circumstances, including whether a shorter booking can be considered. Wait for acceptance and the actual contract before booking a stay or making stock exclusively for this event.
Build a portfolio people can assess
Prepare recent product photographs, materials, techniques, prices and available quantities. The artisan photo checklist helps explain scale and finish. Distinguish work you make yourself, collaborations and products bought from other businesses. A reviewer should not have to guess how an item is produced.
Describe a range you can replenish. For personalized work, provide realistic production times and limits. Do not promise unlimited variations throughout the holidays. A display photograph should show the setup you can actually deliver, with enough space to work and store packaging inside the proposed allocation.
Verify the full cost and obligations
Consult the current categories in the FAQ and request the amount relevant to your own contract. A regular hut and a short-stay arrangement are different products. Confirm included services, equipment to bring, attendance obligations and cancellation terms before making a payment.
The craft fair break-even guide helps add transport, accommodation, staffing and preparation time to the space cost. An event's overall audience does not predict an individual stall's takings. Compare realistic product margin with expenses, rather than treating hoped-for turnover as profit.
Winter operations and deliveries
Request access, unloading and setup instructions for your assigned site. Tourist arrival routes are not commercial vehicle permissions. Check electrical requirements before adding heating or lighting, and protect products and packaging from moisture. Keep a copy of the instructions and an operational contact available without relying on a connection.
The market-day checklist supports handovers, stock counts and reservations. A helper needs clear prices and must know which pieces are already held for customers. Test your payment setup in advance and make sure the person replacing you can use the agreed process.
Stay reachable after visitors travel home
A shopper may return to another province before deciding. A current catalogue lets them find your photographs, prices and contact information later. Before offering shipping, check availability, packaging and the carrier's timetable. A holiday delivery promise needs to account for production already committed to other orders.
Mirasol is a real Mercader storefront example. Test your QR on a phone and remove reserved pieces from available stock. Mercader offers a 14-day trial. To compare other opportunities, use the market finder, then confirm every event's conditions with its organiser.
