London has many Christmas events, but a maker needs more than a festive name to decide where to sell. Southbank Centre's Winter Market is confirmed from 2 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, so December falls within the announced season. Its official page includes craft traders alongside food and drink. That confirms a market relevant to handmade gifts; it does not establish that a craft pitch is still available.
This guide, checked on 2 November, concentrates on the Southbank event rather than presenting an unverified list of fairs across London. Use the sources below to check the edition, then assess whether the practical commitment fits your business.
Southbank's current calendar
The official Winter Market page places the event on Queen's Walk under Hungerford Bridge. It lists stalls from 11am to 10pm and bars until 11pm. The later bar closing time is not the stall timetable. Check holiday exceptions and the hours attached to your own allocation before planning staffing or a customer collection.
The organiser's December 2025 listings PDF records 3 November 2025 to 4 January 2026 for the previous edition. That document is historical evidence, not the current operating guide. Do not copy its holiday closures, trader list or arrangements into a 2026 booking.
Establish who handles craft pitches
The current visitor page describes the event and its line-up, but the information checked here does not establish a remaining craft space, price or application deadline. Ask Southbank Centre which operator handles the relevant pitches for this edition. Confirm that any person offering a place is authorised to do so.
Be specific about your products when enquiring. A route for a catering unit may not be the route for jewellery, textiles or ceramics. Ask about the permitted categories, allocated dates, supplied structure, power, storage and cancellation terms. Keep the response in writing before paying or increasing production.
If a December allocation is unavailable, use the Mercader market finder to research other London craft events. Check their original announcements separately; being nearby or sharing a seasonal name does not make them part of Southbank's market.
Think beyond the customer opening hours
An evening finish affects more than the hours spent serving customers. Add setup, travel, packing, breaks and the journey home to your plan. If you need help, agree a rota that covers the whole booking rather than relying on someone being free at the last minute.
Ask for actual loading instructions. Public transport information for visitors does not tell you how to deliver display equipment or replenish a stall. Confirm access times, any limits on vehicles and where stock can be kept. Do not infer those arrangements from a map of Queen's Walk.
Use our market day checklist as a starting point, then add the organiser's specific instructions. Test the packed size and weight of your equipment before the first trading day.
Prepare a display for gifts and repeat visits
Make prices, materials and care instructions easy to find. Keep a working area clear for wrapping, and ensure fragile pieces are stable. Bring packaging suited to the products you actually sell, including purchases that customers will carry away rather than collect by car.
Separate ready-made items from commissions. If you accept an order for later, record the agreed specification and a realistic completion date. Do not imply that a dispatch date guarantees arrival before Christmas. Update the product's availability when stock changes.
A real catalogue example is Mirasol. One current link gives someone a way to revisit a range after leaving a stall. Keep the catalogue consistent with what you can supply, and test the QR code on an ordinary mobile connection before printing it.
Calculate the commitment before the fee
Once the organiser provides a quote, add materials, packaging, travel, payment fees and paid help. Decide how you will account for your own time. A long booking can reduce repeated setup, but it also ties up stock and working hours that might be needed elsewhere.
Our handmade pricing guide helps structure that calculation using your own inputs. Record daily sales, refunds and stock movements so you can review the result afterwards instead of relying on how busy the surrounding area looked.
Finish each trading day with a short replenishment list and a clear view of outstanding orders. Mercader offers a 14-day trial if you want to prepare a catalogue and research future markets together. A search result or an attractive display cannot guarantee a place or a particular level of sales.
