Etsy Help · Etsy Payments fees by country · Verified on October 30, 2026. The payment fee depends on the country of the bank account. We use Spain (4% + €0.30) on both pages so the scenario is the same, and convert the fixed amount to the page currency.

Mercader · published pricing · Verified on October 28, 2026. The link opens the English pricing page, which publishes the fees in dollars; that is the source of this page's figures. Mercader does not process payments or charge commission on direct sales: the monthly fee is the only platform cost.
European Central Bank · reference rate · Verified on October 29, 2026. Fixed working rate used to move fees published in another currency into the page currency. It is the reference rate the ECB published on 29 October 2026; it is not a live exchange rate.
How it is calculated
- The calculation is per sale: sale price minus material, commission, payment processing, advertising and the share of the monthly fee that belongs to that sale.
- Shopify's and Mercader's monthly fee is divided by the sales per month you enter. With few sales a fixed fee weighs more than a commission; with many, it fades.
- Etsy charges the transaction fee on the item price. We do not add shipping or taxes: if you include them in the price, the real commission is higher.
- Etsy Payments rates depend on the shop's country. We use Spain (4% + €0.30) on both pages so the scenario is the same; on the dollar page that fee is converted at the rate shown. Other countries differ.
- Offsite Ads only applies to orders that come from an external Etsy ad: 15%, or 12% once a shop passes $10,000 in 365 days. Not every order pays it.
- Etsy's listing fee ($0.20 per item) is charged every four months or when an item sells, not on every sale. It appears in the rate table but is not added to the per-sale calculation.
- Shopify charges the plan fee plus the payment gateway rate. We use its online card rate for the EU; with another gateway the percentage changes.
- Mercader does not process payments or charge commission: payment is agreed outside the storefront. Its only cost is the monthly fee.
- Each page uses a single currency: euros in Spanish and dollars in English. Fees published in the other currency are converted at the fixed rate shown; amounts in different currencies are never added together. Mercader's fee comes from the pricing page in this page's currency, linked in the table.
- We do not include taxes, shipping, returns or the cost of your time.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Shopify come out worse than Etsy in some cases?
Because its monthly fee does not depend on sales. With few sales a month that fee weighs more than Etsy's commission; with many, Etsy's commission grows and the fixed fee fades.
What does a negative profit mean?
That, with those numbers, every sale loses money after materials and fees. Raise the price, cut the cost or change plan: the calculator shows the result, it does not decide for you.
Does Mercader charge commission or process payments?
No. Mercader does not process the payment or keep a percentage of the sale: it only charges the monthly plan fee (Basic or Pro). Payment is agreed with the customer outside the storefront.
Where do the fees come from and when are they updated?
From the official pages linked in the table, with the date they were checked in plain sight. If a platform changes its prices, we update the figure and the date.
Can I use Etsy and Mercader at the same time?
Yes. Etsy brings discovery and Mercader is the link for people who already follow you. In that case compare Etsy's cost with Mercader's fee, not the two commissions with each other.
Is my data stored?
No. The calculator runs in your browser and does not send the price or the cost anywhere. We only measure that the tool is used, without those amounts.
