- Sources: [Official site](https://www.manchester.gov.uk/christmas-in-manchester-2026/christmas-markets) · [Previous edition (Nov 7 – Dec 22, 2025)](https://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/500357/christmas/9047/manchesters_christmas_markets_2025)
- How to get a stall: Visit Manchester directs prospective traders to Manchester City Council. Current pitch availability, fees and application deadlines must be confirmed with the organiser; this guide does not establish that places remain. (https://www.visitmanchester.com/ideas-and-inspiration/christmas/)

We check every date on the organiser's site. A market marked «expected» ran last year and hasn't announced this year's edition yet: confirm before you go or apply.

Manchester's Christmas Markets open on **6 November 2026**, with the main city-centre run continuing until **22 December**. For a small maker, November is the time to distinguish three things: the public calendar, your actual pitch allocation and the stock you can realistically produce. None of them can safely be inferred from a photograph of last year's market.

The [council's 2026 guide](https://www.manchester.gov.uk/christmas-in-manchester-2026/christmas-markets) confirms the dates and sites. This article was checked on 2 November and focuses on preparation for the opening month; our [December Manchester guide](/en/mercados/manchester-christmas-markets-2026) covers the later trading period.

## Use the 2026 map

The current council guide includes Albert Square, St Ann's Square, Cathedral Gardens and Lincoln Square among the locations. Its [September announcement](https://www.manchester.gov.uk/news-stories/2026/manchesters-legendary-christmas-markets-to-take-over-ten-locations-in-festive-bonanza-for-city) describes Lincoln Square as a food-and-drink-focused addition and changes to St Ann's Square. Do not assume every site offers the same mix of products or trading arrangements.

The [2025 council page](https://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/500357/christmas/9047/manchesters_christmas_markets_2025) gives 7 November to 22 December for that edition. Keep it as a comparison source, not your loading map or your 2026 timetable.

For traders, the consequence is simple: confirm the exact address and allocated unit before arranging transport or telling customers where to find you. A city-centre trail is not a single doorway.

## Finding a pitch is a separate task

[Visit Manchester](https://www.visitmanchester.com/ideas-and-inspiration/christmas/) directs prospective Christmas-market traders to Manchester City Council. The information checked for this guide does not establish a remaining vacancy, a price or a current application deadline. Ask for those details directly and get any offer in writing.

If you are offered a place through another contact, establish who is organising the event and whether it is part of the council's Christmas Markets or a separate fair. Request the full fee, cancellation policy, trading dates, permitted product categories and equipment requirements before paying.

The [Mercader market finder](/en/herramientas/market-finder) can help you research other November events around Greater Manchester. Treat each result as a starting point for checking the organiser, not evidence that a pitch is available.

## Prepare for your actual allocation

A booking can affect more than the hours you stand behind the display. Set aside time for packing, travel, loading, cleaning and stock checks. Agree who covers breaks and what happens if you cannot reach the site. Keep important documents and contact numbers somewhere you can access without a connection.

Rehearse the display in the space you have been allocated. Put prices where shoppers can read them, leave room for wrapping and keep a safe route to the products you need most often. Use our [market day checklist](/en/blog/market-day-checklist-for-artisans), then add the instructions specific to your booking.

Ask the organiser about permitted electrical equipment and how deliveries work. Do not bring a heater, extra lighting or a large display structure on the assumption that another market allowed it.

## Start with a range you can replenish

Prepare a stock sheet that identifies each product, variant and price. Record opening quantities, sales and damages so you can see what needs replacing. A product that attracted compliments is not automatically a product that sold; keep those observations separate.

Use the opening days to test the practical setup. Can a customer understand the size or material without asking? Can you find the correct packaging quickly? Does the payment arrangement work in your location? Ask your payment provider what happens if connectivity fails rather than assuming offline transactions are always possible.

Before producing more stock, compare time, material and packaging costs. Our [pricing guide](/en/blog/how-to-price-products-with-confidence) can help structure the calculation, but the inputs should come from your own work.

## Make November useful even without a booking

If you cannot trade this season, a visit can still help you prepare an informed application later. Observe the available space, product presentation and practical demands without copying another maker's work or treating someone else's busy stall as a guarantee of your sales.

Prepare a clear catalogue showing your own range. [Mirasol](https://mirasol.mercader.app/) is a real example of a small maker presenting products through one link. Keep your photos, prices and availability accurate so both an organiser and a future buyer can understand what you offer.

Finish November with a realistic December plan: bookings you actually hold, stock you can supply and time reserved for making. Mercader offers a 14-day trial for preparing a catalogue and researching markets; the decision to accept a trader always remains with the organiser.
