# How to make a WhatsApp catalog for your products (3 ways)

> PDF, WhatsApp Business catalog or a link with your products: how to make a digital catalog for WhatsApp, which option to choose and ready-to-use messages.

If many of your sales close on WhatsApp, you know the routine: someone asks "what do you have?", you send ten photos, then the price of each one, then whether it comes in another color. A digital catalog breaks that chain: you send one link and the person sees everything at once.

There are three common ways to do it. None is right for everyone, so here is what each one offers.

## Option 1: a PDF catalog

This is what almost everyone tries first: a template with photos and prices, exported to PDF and sent in the chat.

- **Pros**: you design it your way and it can be printed.
- **Cons**: as soon as you sell a piece or change a price, the PDF is out of date and you have to remake and resend it. On a phone you have to zoom, and you cannot link to a single product.

It works for a seasonal catalog that rarely changes. For a studio selling one-of-a-kind pieces, it goes stale within days.

## Option 2: the WhatsApp Business catalog

The WhatsApp Business app lets you create a catalog with photos, a price and a description for each product. Customers see it from your business profile and you can share products inside the conversation.

- **Pros**: it sits where you already talk to customers, and you do not need another tool.
- **Cons**: it lives inside WhatsApp and your phone number. It is not a page you can use as the main destination in your Instagram bio, on a QR code at your stall or on a product tag, and it does not show your upcoming fairs or your reviews.

If all your selling happens on WhatsApp, it is a good start. Limits and requirements change, so check WhatsApp's official help before loading your whole catalog.

## Option 3: a link to your catalog (digital storefront)

A simple web page with your products that opens on any phone without installing anything. That is what a storefront like Mercader does: `your-brand.mercader.app` with photos, price and availability for each piece, your upcoming fairs, reviews and a button that opens WhatsApp with your number.

- **Pros**: the same link works for WhatsApp, Instagram, a QR code and Google. Change a price and it is changed for everyone.
- **Cons**: it is one more tool (Mercader is paid after a 14-day trial) and it does not take payment for you: the sale closes in the chat.

You can see a real one at [Mirasol](https://mirasol.mercader.app).

## Which option to choose

| If you… | Choose |
| --- | --- |
| Sell a fixed collection that changes once a year | PDF |
| Start and finish every sale on WhatsApp | WhatsApp Business catalog |
| Also sell at fairs, on Instagram or through shops | A link to your catalog |

Many makers combine options 2 and 3: a WhatsApp catalog for people who already message them and a link of their own for everything else.

## How to build your catalog step by step

### 1. Pick 10 to 20 products

Do not upload everything. Start with your best sellers, the pieces that best show your style and a couple of cheaper entry pieces for first-time buyers.

### 2. Take photos that read at small sizes

Clean background, natural light and one photo with the piece in a hand or in use to show scale. The full guide is in the [product photo checklist](/en/blog/product-photo-checklist-for-artisans).

### 3. Write each product card

For each product: a clear name ("Blue stoneware mug, 300 ml"), price, size, material, whether it is one of a kind or made to order, and lead time. If you are unsure about pricing, read [how to price your products with confidence](/en/blog/how-to-price-products-with-confidence).

### 4. Sort by what customers look for

By product type or collection, not by date. Sold pieces come off or are marked as sold out.

### 5. Share it where conversations happen

- In your WhatsApp Business **greeting** or **away message**.
- In your **status** whenever you add something new.
- In your **Instagram bio**.
- On a **QR code** at your stall and on your cards.

## Messages ready to copy

Save them as quick replies:

> Hi! Thanks for getting in touch. Here is everything I have available, with prices: your-brand.mercader.app. Tell me what you like and I will hold it for you.

> That piece has sold, but I have similar ones here: your-brand.mercader.app. If you would like something made to order, tell me.

> I am at the craft market this Saturday. The address and opening times are at your-brand.mercader.app.

## Common mistakes

- **Sending twenty loose photos**: the customer gets lost and the conversation drags on.
- **A catalog without prices**: it forces people to ask, and many will not.
- **Not marking sold pieces**: it brings "is this still available?" messages that end in disappointment.

## Start with what you already have

Your phone photos and your prices are enough to begin.
